Welcome to Troop 555

On behalf of the Scouts, Troop Committee, and Assistant Scoutmasters of Troop 555, I welcome you to our troop.

Troop 555 was first chartered on November 01, 1991 in the Rose Bowl District, San Gabriel Valley Council and composed of 25 scouts organized into 3 patrols. New scouts are usually patrolled together so they may experience their advancement together.

Please join us in creating an opportunity where your son and others are able to participate in fun and challenging activities, and have the chance to practice leadership skills in a safe, positive, learning environment.

Our troop is primarily a backpacking focused, community service oriented, boy led organization.  The scouts elect officers who serve in their leadership roles for six month terms.  These scouts, with input from their patrols, plan and execute the troops’ program. These annual plans typically see as many as twenty nights of camping including a fantastic week at CCV, Catalina. Our annual community service Gift Wrapping Fundraiser at Sport Chalet is in its 9th year. The Scouts benefit directly from this based on the number of hours they work.

Most of our outings involve weekend hiking and camping in the Angeles National Forest with an annual extended hike in the Sierra Nevada Range.  The troop has also engaged in a number of Philmont Scout Reservation expeditions.  These are ten night treks that traverse from fifty to one hundred twenty five miles that incorporate adventurous, educational or just fun program elements along the way. We have also experienced the Northern Tier Canoe Trip, voyaging into the great north wilderness. Troop 555 Scouts have also conducted many fishing, air plane flying, kayaking, white water rafting, and cycling excursions as well.

We look forward to opportunities to invite rising Webelos, and boys new to Scouting, to join us.

Troop 555 is a Scout‐led troop. We are fortunate also to have a number of experienced, dedicated Assistant Scoutmasters and an active, supportive Troop Committee to ensure that our Scouts receive the guidance and support they deserve as they learn and grow in our troop. Our Assistant Scoutmasters provide leadership and mentorship to our Scouts, and take charge of the many and varied outdoor activities we offer.

Our Troop Committee members, led by Chairman Rosemary Mosquera, provides the structure and guidance to our Troop’s activities that we need to be successful. In addition, we are fortunate that many members of our Troop Committee take an active role in our program, leading outdoor activities, serving as merit badge counselors, and taking charge of many of our activities that occur during our regular troop meetings as we hope you will.

All of the adult volunteers in our troop work towards one goal: to provide the very best program we can for our Scouts. We hope you are ready to give Troop 555 a try. Please take the time to check out our website at http://www.delphitroop555.org

To get a feel for our activities, please have a look at our calendar.

Our meetings are on Tuesday nights, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Library of Delphi Academy, parents are urged to attend and help out.

Troop 555 is proud to create an environment that allows our scouts to mature into self reliant young men, schooled in outdoor skills, trained to leadership and infused with the ethical ideals of the Boy Scout movement.
